About Job Shop Registry
Job Shop Registry is a small, independent team of manufacturing-data nerds who got tired of two things: marketplaces that wedge themselves between buyers and shops, and "verified supplier" badges that verify nothing.
The premise
Buying custom parts used to start with a phone call to a shop. Now it often starts with a marketplace that takes a cut, anonymizes the shop, and owns the relationship. Marketplaces are a fine business — they are just not the only way, and for many buyers direct is better: clearer communication, real accountability, no platform margin baked into the quote.
So this registry does one narrow thing well: it tells you which US shops can run your work — by process, material, certification, tonnage, and state — from facts those shops publish themselves, re-checked monthly. Then it gets out of the way. You call the shop. We never touch the transaction.
The trust product
The industry's dirty secret is that certification logos outlive certifications. Our core product is the dated verification stamp: when a profile says "checked July 2026", a machine checked the public record on that date, and will check it again next month. When the statement disappears, so does the tag. The full rules are at /methodology — including what we deliberately do not do (ratings, reviews, rankings for money).
How it stays funded
Listing facts is free and always will be. Shops can optionally claim their listing ($29/mo) for a verified badge, a dofollow link, and self-service updates. That is the entire business model. We sell visibility, never leads, and a shop that pays nothing keeps its listing and its correction rights forever.
